How I became an instructional designer
During my time as a corporate safety consultant in Boston, Massachusetts, the pandemic brought an unexpected shift. Our client required ongoing education and training for employees and contractors, which sparked the need for virtual training when in-person sessions were no longer feasible. I eagerly embraced the challenge of converting in-person trainings into engaging online modules. Through this process, I gained expertise in Articulate 360 and further refined my skills in Adobe Illustrator, Premiere, and After Effects. We developed storyboards in PowerPoint, which I then transformed into interactive, animated learning modules. Some of the trainings involved intricate regulatory documentation, providing an exciting challenge that deepened my understanding. Collaborating with subject matter experts made the entire experience even more enriching. Since then, I have also utilized Adobe Captivate for development and currently create software simulations of regulatory software for another company. This experience solidified my passion for designing effective e-learning solutions and reinforced my ability to adapt and innovate in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
